Teledyne TSS successfully test MK31 in submerged operation

During recent trials with an unspecified Navy, Teledyne TSS successfully demonstrated their MK31 Inertial Navigation System in a Naval Submarine application that required accurate free inertial performance during a submerged operation.  

Mr Brian Huntsman (V.P./General Manager), said of the successful completion of the tests, “Teledyne TSS has over 130 years of combined pedigree in providing high performance navigational equipment in military surface vessels  and we are delighted that our latest product, the MK31 Inertial Reference System, has now performed brilliantly in an extremely demanding submerged operation.”

The MK31 (2 arc minute) Inertial Navigation System has been designed to meet the requirement for platform attitude and heading measurement to enable compensatory data to be provided to other ships systems.   It incorporates three single axis ring laser elements and three highly accurate accelerometers. These core elements enabled the TSS research and development team to design this high specification Inertial Navigation System.
